INTRODUCTION

An Optical Transport System

miniHUB is a format and application flexible optical transport platform, designed for a variety of video, audio and data standards.

miniHUB has been developed with any kind of facility in mind, providing a concept optimized for flexibility and scalability. The standard features allow for transport of an increasing number of signals: from analog to DVB-ASI, SD-SDI, HD-SDI, 3G-SDI, 6G-SDI, 12G-SDI(4K), MADI audio and 1G/10G Ethernet. miniHUB also support transport of the newest IP-standards, SMPTE 2022-6/7 and SMPTE 2110.

The optical transport is commonly done via dark fiber. Signal count per fiber varies from a single channel per fiber to more than 20 channels per fiber, dependent of signal type. miniHUB supports a multitude of network structures. Such structures include, but is not limited to: Point-To-Point, Ring net, Star and/or combinations of these.

From a technological point of view, the miniHUB concept brings a lot of automated features to market, in terms of:

More than 200 configurations available
Auto-patch function based on signal presence
Ultra-high frame density, with minimum dual output or loop-through on input
Up to 32 optical conversions pr. 1RU, including 18 ch. CWDM filter
Top-of-the-line 2:1 optical change-over, fully automated with close to zero delay

Norwia's AutoSFP^® technology enables the system to identify the type of SFP's installed. As soon as an SFP is installed, the card (re-)configures itself to support the SFP. Therefore, the same card may be either an input, output or a combined input/output card. Each card supports two SFP's, up to 4 channels. For ethernet solutions, each card will support dual transceivers to automatically configure the ethernet link. Ethernet data rates up to 10Gbps is supported.

Other formats available: RS232/422, BlackBurst, GPIO/Tally, various combinations of the these.

The miniHUB customers are spread out across the globe: Oceania, Asia, Africa, Europe and North- and South-America. The customer base today is a mix of everything from large entities with Broadcast and/or Telco presence in several countries, to small customers that only needs transport of a few signals.
